Sustainable and Ethical Jewellery

We believe in non-seasonal, quality jewellery that is designed to last. With every piece, we offer a re-polishing and re-plating service, so that it can be worn and enjoyed for a lifetime. 

Our workshop allows us to do all of our sampling in house, materialising ideas and shaping their dimensions directly on the body. Setting us apart from most designers who rely on outsourcing, our creators are at the heart of every stage of production, so they are not just a chapter but part of the entire story. This means working closely as a team, so that our philosophies can be developed together and fully integrated, streamlining the whole creative cycle, ensuring less movement between suppliers, and less transportation. 

It is important for us to support local industries and protect traditional craftsmanship. Since the beginning of our R&W we have invested time in researching and building strong relationships with local suppliers. We use recycled silver, and all of our gemstones are superior off-cuts from the gemstone industry, which are hand selected, up-cycled and carved by local artisans. As we strive to create minimal waste, new collections are designed to incorporate remaining materials from previous production.

We constantly work with partners to seek solutions for reducing our carbon footprint, which includes using GoGreen options from DHL for international shipments. Our studio and workshop run with green energy and we keep packaging and printed materials to a minimum, all of which are recycled and recyclable.

We are committed to social sustainability and inclusivity, which remain fundamental principles to our brand. This applies not only to our employees, but extends to our design concepts, customers and suppliers. 

All of our staff are paid above the living wage and schedules are created that do not allow for excessive working hours. We follow the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and require that anyone we choose to work with do the same.

After our in house sampling, all of our collections are produced in Germany where we have direct contact with our suppliers and can monitor every step of the production process. This includes regular on-site visits, ensuring that working conditions are aligned with our ethics and the law.

Since the beginning of R&W, we grew our brand from a belief in inclusivity, which continues throughout every new collection. All of our pieces are designed to be gender neutral and non-invasive, allowing them to be worn by any-body.
